Admission seekers and parents have raised concerns over the growing financial burden associated with gaining admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions, particularly the cost of uploading O Level results on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board portal.

The complaints were made by candidates and parents in Abuja, who said the expenses involved in the admission process had continued to accumulate.
According to them, candidates may have to deal with several costs, including registration, result uploads, post UTME screening, transportation, printing of documents and other admission related services.
For families already struggling with rising living costs, the accumulation of these expenses can make the admission journey considerably more difficult.
Some parents said they were concerned that seemingly small payments could become a significant financial burden when combined with the other expenses candidates must meet before securing admission.
The situation has also generated renewed discussion about how admission processes can be made more affordable and accessible, particularly for candidates from low income households.
The cost of securing university admission extends beyond tuition. Prospective students and their families often have to navigate a series of administrative requirements before a candidate can finally secure a place.
As thousands of young Nigerians continue to pursue admission into universities, polytechnics and colleges of education, concerns over additional charges are likely to remain an important part of the national conversation on access to higher education.
Parents and candidates are therefore calling for greater transparency around admission related payments and measures that can reduce unnecessary financial pressure during the admission process.
