Bad habits are like comfortable old shoes. Even when they take us in the wrong direction, letting them go can feel difficult.
The first step to breaking a bad habit is recognising it. Ask yourself: What triggers this behaviour? Is it boredom, stress, peer pressure, or simply routine? Understanding the cause helps you find a solution.
Next, replace the habit instead of merely fighting it. If you spend too much time on your phone, try reading, exercising, or learning a new skill. Start small, set realistic goals, and celebrate your progress.
Most importantly, do not let one mistake become an excuse to give up. Falling back into an old habit does not mean you have failed; it means you have another opportunity to try again.
Remember, habits are built through repetition, and breaking them takes patience. You do not have to change your entire life overnight. Just make one better choice today than you made yesterday. Your habits shape your future. Start changing them, and you may be surprised by the person you become.
