The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has given thousands of candidates with outstanding admission offers another opportunity to regularise their records, extending the deadline for accepting or rejecting admissions dating back to 2021.

The new deadline is September 30, 2026, replacing the earlier August 31 deadline.
The extension affects candidates with outstanding admission offers under both the regular admission process and the Centralised Universities International Admissions category.
JAMB said the decision was intended to provide a final opportunity for affected candidates to clearly indicate what they want to do with their outstanding offers while helping the board maintain accurate national admission records.
Candidates who accept their offers will be able to print and obtain their admission letters.
Those who no longer want the admission can reject it, after which their records will be updated to reflect their current status.
The board also addressed candidates who have moved on to other institutions or programmes. Such candidates may accept outstanding offers and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion where necessary.
For candidates already pursuing a second degree, JAMB advised them to reject previous outstanding admission offers and continue with their current programmes.
The board also sought to calm the fears of candidates who have secured admission in the 2026 admission exercise but still have earlier offers pending.
According to JAMB, rejecting a previous admission offer will not negatively affect a candidate’s 2026 admission.
However, the board warned that candidates should not take the new deadline for granted.
At the expiration of September 30, all outstanding admission offers from 2021 to date that have neither been accepted nor rejected will automatically be reverted to “Not Admitted” status.
The development is particularly important for candidates whose admission records may have remained unresolved for several years.
JAMB said the extension would help clean up its database and ensure that admission records accurately reflect candidates’ current academic positions.
For affected candidates, the message is simple: the additional time should be used immediately.
What may appear to be an old admission offer could still have consequences for a candidate’s official admission record, making it important for every affected student to check their status and take the required action before the final deadline.
