The demand was part of resolutions reached at the inaugural Senate meeting of the NANS JCC Ogun State Axis for the 2025/2026 parliamentary session held at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.

In a communiqué signed by the chairman of the body, Comrade Tijani Habeebullahi Adekunle, the students expressed concern over the worsening security situation, citing the recent abduction of students and teachers in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, as evidence of growing threats facing schools.

The Senate condemned the recurring attacks and called on security agencies to intensify intelligence gathering and rescue operations to safeguard students and educators.

It also demanded the immediate and unconditional release of all kidnapped victims and appealed to the Office of the National Security Adviser and the Federal Ministry of Education to improve security infrastructure in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions nationwide.

The students further backed the campaign for state policing, arguing that decentralised policing would enhance intelligence gathering and speed up responses to security threats. They commended the House of Representatives for passing the state police bill and urged the Senate and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure its speedy implementation.

NANS Ogun JCC also praised the Department of State Services and the Nigeria Police in Ogun State for their efforts in tackling insecurity and maintaining peace across campuses in the state.
