The Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project coordinator in Zamfara State, Hajiya Saadatu Abdu Gusau, has sought the support, cooperation, and synergy of the media to advance girl-child education in the state. She affirmed that no adolescent girl would be denied access to education in Zamfara.
Hajiya Saadatu Abdu Gusau emphasized that collaboration is crucial for the project’s success, as AGILE aims to improve educational opportunities for adolescent girls across the state’s 14 local government areas.
This was disclosed during a bi-annual media roundtable with media practitioners held at the Command Guest House in Gusau, the state capital.
She explained that the roundtable aimed to enhance media relations on the AGILE project with media outlets and practitioners, promoting education and creating greater awareness about girl-child education and empowerment in the state.
The project coordinator further mentioned that one of the objectives of the media roundtable is to develop informative and enlightening content on the importance of education.
“It’s also intended to increase and enhance education-related programs to boost girls’ enrollment, re-enrollment, transition, and completion rates in the state.”
Hajiya Saadatu Abdu Gusau assured her continued commitment to the project’s success, aligning with Governor Dauda Lawal’s efforts to improve girls’ education and empowerment in the state.
In his remarks, the State Commissioner of Education and Technology, Malam Wadatau Madawaki, assured the government’s support and commitment, recognizing the unique challenges faced in rural areas where education is often overlooked, especially for girls.
