NECO Announces Dates for 2027 SSCE Internal Examination, Releases Registration Timetable

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has unveiled the timetable for the 2027 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal, confirming that the examination will commence on 1 April and conclude on 11 May 2027.

The announcement provides prospective candidates and participating schools with a clear timeframe to prepare for the forthcoming assessment. NECO has equally outlined the registration window, introduced a late registration period, and reiterated the compulsory nomination of prospective supervisors as part of the enrolment process.

NECO 2027 SSCE Internal: Examination and Registration Schedule

According to the published timetable, the examination and registration activities will follow these dates:

• Examination commencement: 1 April 2027.

• Examination conclusion: 11 May 2027.

• Regular registration: 2 November 2026 to 26 February 2027.

• Late registration: 27 February to 5 March 2027.

NECO has made it clear that the late registration window will close on 5 March 2027, with no provision for an extension. Schools are therefore expected to finalise their candidates’ registration within the stipulated period to avoid missing the deadline.

NECO Makes Supervisor Nomination Mandatory for Schools

In another important requirement, NECO has made the nomination of prospective examination supervisors compulsory for schools participating in the 2027 SSCE Internal.

The directive means that school administrators must incorporate supervisor nomination into their registration arrangements rather than treat it as an optional administrative exercise.

Schools responsible for submitting candidates’ details are advised to pay close attention to this requirement and ensure that all necessary nominations are completed before the registration deadline.
