Two female graduates of Lagos State University have emerged as the first winners of the Prince Tajudeen Olusi Annual Prizes for outstanding academic performance in History and International Studies and Sociology.

The winners were announced during LASU’s 30th combined convocation ceremonies, which celebrated 20,604 graduates.
Eniola Anuoluwapo Ogunwede emerged as the best graduating student in Sociology for the 2025/2026 academic session after recording an impressive CGPA of 4.66.
Benita Uchenna Madubugwu won the prize for the best graduating student in History and International Studies with a CGPA of 4.31.
Their achievements mark the maiden edition of the annual prizes established to recognise exceptional academic performance in the two disciplines.
The awards are named after Prince Tajudeen Olusi, a respected historian, administrator and First Republic politician who has contributed significantly to discussions surrounding Lagos history and development.
The initiative is designed to preserve a culture of academic excellence while encouraging students to pursue scholarship and intellectual achievement.
The emergence of two female graduates as the inaugural recipients has also added another dimension to LASU’s celebration of academic excellence, showing the strength of women in the university’s intellectual community.
