The announcement was made in a statement released to the media in Lagos, where the organisations highlighted the growing need for stronger collaboration between academic institutions and the creative industry in response to the rapidly evolving global economy.

According to PMI, the forum is designed to help educators align classroom learning with the practical skills increasingly demanded by employers in an era shaped by artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and technological innovation.

The initiative seeks to create meaningful connections between schools, universities, industry leaders, and creative professionals, ensuring that students graduate with the knowledge and competencies required to thrive in modern work environments.

PMI noted that as industries continue to evolve, traditional educational approaches must adapt to meet emerging workforce demands. The organisation stressed that skills such as creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, problem-solving, adaptability, and innovation have become essential across virtually every profession.

“The LIONS Educators Forum responds to a growing need for closer alignment between what is taught in classrooms and the capabilities required in today’s rapidly changing, AI-enabled economy,” the statement said.

The forum will serve as a platform for educators and industry experts to exchange ideas, share best practices, and develop strategies that better prepare students for future career opportunities.

Speaking on the objectives of the initiative, PMI Chief Marketing Officer, Menaka Gopinath, said the forum would focus on two key priorities aimed at strengthening education and workforce readiness.

“The LIONS Educators Forum will focus on two core areas: developing future-ready curricula and strengthening pathways between education and employment,” Gopinath stated.

She explained that the initiative would encourage the development of learning models that reflect current industry realities while helping students transition more effectively from the classroom into the workforce.

The organisers believe that closer cooperation between educational institutions and employers will create more opportunities for students to gain relevant experience, practical exposure, and industry insights before entering the job market.

Industry observers have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a timely response to the challenges posed by technological disruption and changing workplace expectations.

The launch of the LIONS Educators Forum marks another step towards fostering innovation in education and creating stronger links between learning and employment, with the ultimate goal of preparing students to succeed in an increasingly competitive global economy.
