Zamfara Shortlists 6,412 as State Moves to Recruit 3,050 Teachers

The Zamfara State Government has shortlisted 6,412 applicants for a Computer-Based Test (CBT) as part of its recruitment drive to fill 3,050 basic education teaching positions across the state.

The examination, scheduled for Wednesday, September 16, 2026, is part of the state government’s effort to strengthen staffing in primary schools, particularly in underserved and rural communities.

The Zamfara Information Technology Development Agency (ZITDA), which announced the CBT arrangements in a circular, said the shortlisted candidates were selected from 10,876 applications received through the state’s digital recruitment portal.

According to the agency, candidates who made the shortlist were notified through the email addresses and telephone numbers they provided during the application process.

Applicants were also directed to visit the official recruitment portal to confirm their status and print their examination or invitation slips. The slips contain details including the assigned CBT centre, examination date, time and venue.

ZITDA advised candidates to arrive at their examination centres with their printed examination slips and valid means of identification, stressing that the examination slip would be required for admission into the CBT hall.

The agency further urged applicants who had not received an SMS or email notification to remain patient and continue checking the recruitment portal for updates.

Part of Wider Education Drive

The latest recruitment exercise follows other education-sector interventions by the state government.

According to Vanguard, the state had previously recruited 4,000 teachers and upgraded 789 schools, while another 500 science teachers were recruited and deployed across Zamfara’s 14 local government areas to address shortages in science education at the secondary-school level.

The planned recruitment of 3,050 additional basic-school teachers is therefore another step in the state’s ongoing effort to increase the number of teachers available to pupils, particularly in schools facing staffing challenges.

With thousands of applicants now scheduled to compete through the CBT process, attention will turn to the outcome of the exercise and the eventual deployment of successful candidates to schools across Zamfara.
