The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Clement Kolawole, disclosed the figures on Monday during a press briefing to announce activities for the university’s 2026 convocation ceremony.
The two graduates with perfect scores are Osemen Joy Esezobor of the Department of Computer Science and Osayuware Toluwalase Osazuwa of the Department of International Relations.
According to Kolawole, 147 students graduated with Second Class Upper Division, 48 obtained Second Class Lower Division, while 10 earned Third Class degrees. The graduating class comprises 161 students from the Faculty of Basic Medical and Applied Sciences, 109 from the Faculty of Arts, Management and Social Sciences, and 53 from the Faculty of Nursing Sciences.
The vice-chancellor attributed the students’ performance to the university’s commitment to academic standards, innovative teaching and practical learning. He said the institution had continued to equip graduates with the knowledge and skills required to compete in a changing global environment.
He also explained that the university had adjusted its convocation schedule to bring graduation closer to the completion of students’ academic programmes. The arrangement, he said, would enable graduates to proceed promptly for the National Youth Service Corps scheme, meet admission deadlines for foreign universities and participate in graduation ceremonies before returning to other commitments.
Kolawole further disclosed that the university had produced its first homegrown professor, Professor Modupeade Adetunji, a specialist in Food Microbiology and Mycotoxicology.
He said the institution had also restructured its academic units into four faculties and made skills acquisition and digital literacy compulsory for students alongside their regular courses. According to him, the initiative has helped some students secure international remote jobs before graduation through the university’s digital literacy partnership.
The convocation activities include professional induction ceremonies for Nursing Science graduates by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria and Medical Laboratory Science graduates by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria.
The convocation lecture and thanksgiving service are scheduled for Thursday, October 15, while the main ceremony, featuring the conferment of degrees and presentation of prizes, will be held on Friday, October 16.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Pastor Samuel Olatunji, commended the university’s management, staff and parents for their contributions to the institution’s development. He said Trinity University would continue to promote integrity, academic excellence, and values aimed at preparing graduates for professional and societal responsibilities.
