Nigeria’s technical education sector has recorded another significant milestone following the release of the 2026 National Business Certificate and National Technical Certificate examination results.

Beyond the improved pass rate, 24,128 candidates were certified as craftsmen, highlighting the growing importance of practical skills within the country’s education system.
The National Business and Technical Examinations Board said 100,069 candidates registered for the examinations, while 97,867 sat for the papers across 2,144 centres nationwide.
The board recorded an 81.24 per cent success rate among candidates who obtained at least five credits including English Language and Mathematics.
The performance was a significant improvement over the 68.18 per cent recorded in 2025.
Another 89,580 candidates obtained five credits and above with or without English Language and Mathematics.
NABTEB also reported that only 1.55 per cent of candidates who sat for the examination were involved in recorded malpractice incidents.
The results were released 52 days after the final examination, reflecting the board’s efforts to improve efficiency in processing and releasing candidates’ results.
Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, Dr Mohammed Aminu Mohammed, said the outcome demonstrated the collective efforts of students, teachers, parents and other education stakeholders.
The growing number of certified craftsmen is particularly significant as Nigeria continues to search for effective ways to equip young people with practical competencies that can support employment, entrepreneurship and economic development.
With technical and vocational education receiving increasing attention, the latest NABTEB results provide another indication of the potential of skills based education to complement conventional academic pathways.
