Candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions will now pay N4,000 only once to verify their West African Senior School Certificate Examination results through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.

The clarification was issued jointly by JAMB and the West African Examinations Council following the introduction of a system that allows candidates to upload and verify their O Level results remotely.
Under the arrangement, candidates whose admissions are coordinated by JAMB will verify their WAEC results through the designated JAMB platform.
Once the verification is completed, the outcome will be transmitted to the institution where the candidate is seeking admission.
JAMB and WAEC stressed that candidates would not be required to pay another verification fee to their chosen institutions.
The development is expected to reduce the financial and logistical pressure associated with repeated verification exercises.
Previously, candidates could face separate verification requirements during the admission process, creating additional costs and requiring further visits to institutions or approved centres.
The new arrangement is designed to make the process more straightforward by allowing one verified result to be used by the relevant institution.
The examination bodies also said the collaboration would help strengthen the integrity and security of academic records while reducing opportunities for the submission of fake or altered certificates.
Candidates have been advised to complete the verification through the designated JAMB platform and retain their verification information for the admission process.
For thousands of young Nigerians currently navigating the 2026 and 2027 admission cycle, the one time payment arrangement could make an important part of the admission process simpler and less burdensome.
