How Nigerian Students Can Get 10 Free Dangote Refinery Shares

Nigerian students aged 18 and above can qualify for 10 additional shares in Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE at no extra cost under a share grant initiative introduced by the Aliko Dangote Foundation.Nigerian Students Can Get 10 Extra Dangote Refinery Shares Through Foundation Grant - Myschoolnews

The initiative is designed to promote education-support-as-nigerian-students-prepare-for-the-future/">financial literacy, encourage responsible investing and introduce young Nigerians to share ownership through the refinery’s ongoing initial public offering (IPO). However, students must first purchase a minimum of 10 shares to qualify for consideration for the additional shares.

Under the programme, the foundation may fund an application for an additional 10 shares on behalf of an eligible student who completes the required verification and subscribes through the designated student application channel.

The refinery’s shares are being offered at ₦525 each, meaning students must pay at least ₦5,250 to apply for the minimum 10 shares. The additional 10 shares would be funded by the foundation, subject to its terms and conditions and the applicable IPO procedures.

To qualify, applicants must be at least 18 years old and enrolled in an eligible public or private tertiary institution in Nigeria, including a university, polytechnic or college of education. Postgraduate students are excluded from the scheme.

Applicants must also provide their student details for verification, have a valid Bank Verification Number (BVN), complete the required identity verification and Know Your Customer checks, and apply for and pay for at least 10 shares through the designated channel.

Interested students can begin the process through the foundation’s official portal at https://ipo.alikodangotefoundation.org/students. They are required to provide the requested personal and academic information, complete student verification and follow the instructions to the designated subscription platform.

Students must apply in their own names and use the approved channel specified by the foundation. Applications made through other banks, brokers or platforms do not qualify for consideration under the grant initiative, according to the published terms.

The foundation has clarified that completing the eligibility and verification requirements does not automatically guarantee a grant-funded application or the allotment of shares. The additional application is separate from the student’s paid application, and the final allocation remains subject to the IPO process.

The refinery’s public offer is scheduled to close on October 27, 2026, following an extension of the original deadline. However, students should independently confirm that the foundation’s designated student application channel remains open before applying, as the availability of the grant channel may differ from the general IPO deadline.

The foundation advised prospective participants to read the offer documents and understand the risks associated with investing in shares. Share prices can rise or fall, and neither the foundation nor the IPO guarantees investment returns.

The initiative forms part of the foundation’s broader effort to encourage young Nigerians to develop sound financial habits and gain practical experience in investment and asset ownership.
