The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reviewed its policy on the replacement of registered phone numbers and changes to email addresses for candidates.

The new policy, which took effect on September 21, 2026, allows candidates who have lost access to their registered phone numbers or email accounts to request changes through a new verification process.
JAMB had previously restricted SIM swaps and email changes due to concerns over fraud and unauthorised access to candidates’ profiles.
The Board said the revised process is designed to help genuine candidates while maintaining safeguards against impersonation and other forms of fraud.
According to JAMB, candidates can now request a change of their registered GSM number, email address, or both. However, the service can only be used once by each candidate.
Candidates seeking to use the facility are required to visit designated JAMB Computer-Based Test centres, Professional Testing Centres, Professional Registration Centres or applicable JAMB state offices.
They will also be required to provide their new phone number and/or email address and submit a duly executed court affidavit as part of the verification process.
The process involves logging into the candidate’s JAMB e-Facility profile, making payment for the service and subsequently completing biometric verification at an approved centre.
JAMB advised candidates to use the service only when necessary and warned against relying on unauthorised agents to make changes to their records.
The Board said the policy review is aimed at ensuring that candidates who genuinely lose access to their registered contact details can still manage their JAMB profiles without compromising the security of their records.
