The National Youth Service Corps has extended the service year of 27 corps members in Osun State after they were found to have committed various acts of indiscipline during their national service.

The Osun State NYSC Coordinator, Mr Ekeng Kubiangha, disclosed this during the Passing Out Parade for members of the 2025 Batch B Stream II in Osogbo.
The coordinator also revealed that 31 corps members absconded from service during the year.
A total of 1,969 corps members participated in the passing out ceremony across the 30 local government areas and the NYSC Area Office in the state.
The sanctions against the 27 corps members underline the scheme’s determination to enforce discipline and ensure that participants comply with the rules governing the mandatory national service programme.
The NYSC service year is designed not only to expose young graduates to different parts of the country but also to promote discipline, national integration, community development and useful professional experiences.
Kubiangha urged the outgoing corps members to make good use of the knowledge and experiences they acquired during their service year as they begin the next phase of their lives.
He also encouraged them to build on the entrepreneurial skills acquired through the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme.
The development serves as a reminder to serving corps members that participation in the NYSC programme comes with responsibilities and that breaches of its regulations can attract sanctions.
For the corps members who successfully completed their service, the passing out ceremony marked the beginning of another chapter as they move into the Nigerian labour market and other professional pursuits.
