There is no doubt that the current economic situation in the country has greatly affected Nigerian children. With the rising cost of goods and services, many children are now forced to reduce their requests to their parents because many families can no longer afford certain things.

Apart from the high exchange rate, which has contributed to the increase in prices, many parents have had to discuss difficult changes with their children. Some families are considering moving their children to more affordable schools, while others are relocating to less expensive apartments that may not provide enough space and comfort for their children.

The economic hardship has also affected access to basic necessities. Some families struggle to pay electricity bills, leaving children to cope with uncomfortable living conditions. The number of gifts given for good academic performance, as well as outings for shopping, games, clothes, and shoes, has also reduced in recent times.

In some cases, parents are unable to pay their children’s school fees, resulting in many children staying out of school for months. Some families even struggle to put food on the table. These challenges are deeply concerning because children are among the most vulnerable members of society.

The government must take urgent steps to improve the economy and secure a better future for the younger generation. The wellbeing of children is a reflection of the health of a nation. A successful society is one in which children are comfortable, happy, and able to reach their full potential. As a country, we must work together to get it right
