The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has restored its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) after a temporary disruption, urging tertiary institutions to accelerate the processing of admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session.

JAMB announced the restoration in a statement on Monday, September 28, 2026, saying CAPS was now fully operational and advising institutions to take advantage of the platform to recover lost time and meet the approved admission deadlines.
The disruption had affected access to CAPS during a critical period of the admission exercise, with candidates unable to perform some admission-related activities, including checking their admission status and accepting offers.
The board had earlier attributed the temporary outage to technical challenges associated with the hosting arrangements for the platform. It said it had engaged the organisation hosting CAPS and was working to restore the system.
With the platform now restored, JAMB has urged institutions to speed up their admission processes and comply with the timelines agreed for the 2026/2027 admission exercise.
Public universities are expected to conclude their admissions by October 31, 2026, while private universities have until November 30, 2026. Polytechnics, monotechnics and colleges of education are expected to complete their admission exercises by December 31, 2026.
JAMB also advised candidates who have been offered admission to accept their offers through CAPS promptly. The board previously approved a four-week period for candidates to accept admission offers after their institutions approve them.
The board further urged candidates who were awaiting their 2026 National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination results to upload or verify their results following the release of the examination results.
According to JAMB, the step is necessary to ensure that candidates’ academic credentials are available for consideration as institutions intensify their admission processes.
CAPS is JAMB’s central platform for managing tertiary institution admissions in Nigeria. The system allows institutions to process admissions while enabling candidates to monitor their admission status and confirm provisional offers.
The board expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the temporary disruption and thanked candidates, institutions and other stakeholders for their patience and understanding.
JAMB urged all institutions and candidates to make use of the restored platform and ensure that the remaining stages of the 2026/2027 admission exercise are completed within the approved timelines.
