The tournament, which will be the largest World Cup in history, is expected to attract millions of supporters from around the globe. To ensure safety and smooth operations, FIFA has outlined 33 categories of items that will not be permitted inside stadiums.

FIFA Warns Fans Ahead of Tournament

According to tournament organisers, all prohibited items discovered during security screening will be confiscated. Fans carrying certain restricted materials, particularly explosives, fireworks, or illegal substances, could face immediate detention by law enforcement authorities.

Officials also stressed that regulations may be enforced differently across the three host nations depending on local laws.

One of the most significant warnings concerns electronic cigarettes and vaping devices. While vapes are banned inside all World Cup venues, Mexico maintains a nationwide prohibition on e-cigarettes, meaning travellers could face fines, confiscation, and potentially more severe legal consequences if found carrying multiple devices or quantities deemed commercial.

Strict Stadium Entry Rules

FIFA has also confirmed that stadiums will not provide storage facilities for prohibited items, meaning fans arriving with unapproved belongings may be denied entry.

Only transparent bags meeting approved specifications will be allowed, while larger backpacks, opaque handbags, and oversized luggage will be prohibited.

Supporters will also be unable to bring outside food, alcoholic beverages, cans, glass containers, or standard water bottles into stadiums. However, spectators may carry one empty transparent plastic bottle for use at designated water stations inside the venues.

In addition, popular noise-making devices such as vuvuzelas, whistles, air horns, and megaphones will not be permitted.
