When your body grows faster, your skin happens to stretch expansively. If this stretching happens within a short period of time, it results in to stretch marks.

Stretch marks happen when the skin is pulled by rapid growth or stretching. Although the skin is usually fairly elastic, when it’s overstretched, the normal production of collagen is disrupted. As a result, scars called stretch marks may form.

Stretch marks are a normal part of puberty for most girls and guys. When a person grows or gains weight quickly like during puberty, that person may get fine lines on the body called stretch marks.

At first, stretch marks may show up as reddish or purplish lines that can look indented and have a different texture from the skin around them.

If you are noticing stretch marks on your body, you should not feel bad because you are not alone.  It usually occurrs on parts of the body like thighs, hips and butt.

How to make stretch marks less noticeable

Try using body makeup matched to the tone of your skin to cover stretch marks.

Wear board shorts or rash guards to hide the stretch marks.

There are tons of creams and other skin products on the market that reduce the appearance of stretch marks

How to treat stretch marks in teenagers

Exercise regularly

 Regular stretching and exercising is one of the best ways of treating stretch marks for teenagers.

When your teenager engages in regular exercising, it helps tone his body and treats stretch marks automatically.

Hydrate properly

The more water a teenager drinks, the more his skin will remain hydrated. A well-hydrated skin makes stretch marks more supple and soft and it can fix stretch marks in much more easier way.

Healthy food choices

When your teenager eats healthy foods which are high in vitamins A and C, he stands a better chance of treating stretch marks.

Over-the-counter creams

If you find out that stretch marks on your teenager are taking long to heal, you may also use certain over-the-counter cream available in the market. These have collagen and elastin and help tighten the skin a lot. Most of these are dermatologically tested and are safe to use.

Massage with Vitamin E rich oil

Regularly massaging the area with good Vitamin E-rich body oil will help you get rid of stretch marks.

You must act patiently when trying this method though.

Gently massage the affected area everyday with the oil, and slowly, you will see results.

You can also use a good moisturiser. It basically makes your skin more elastic so when the skin grows, it controls stretch marks lot better and prevents it too.

It is important that as a teenager, you do not allow stretch marks affect your personality and self-confidence.
