The initiative is designed to celebrate academic excellence by recognising students who distinguished themselves during the 2025 admission exercise through outstanding performances in both the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and their respective post-UTME or institutional screening exercises.
In a statement issued on Sunday by JAMB’s Public Communication Adviser, Fabian Benjamin, the examination body said each recipient was selected through a transparent, rigorous, and merit-based process coordinated by the board.
According to JAMB, six of the awardees represent Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, while the seventh award will be presented to the highest-performing admitted candidate living with a disability.
The beneficiaries are students of the University of Lagos, University of Uyo, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, University of Maiduguri, and the Federal University of Technology, Minna.
JAMB disclosed that the University of Lagos is the only institution with two award recipients, as it also produced the country’s highest-performing admitted candidate living with a disability.
The board noted that the award is intended to encourage academic excellence, reward hard work and inspire young Nigerians to pursue educational success.
The ceremony is expected to attract more than 300 guests, including the education-policy-for-out-of-school-children-and-adults/">Minister of Education, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, vice-chancellors, heads of regulatory agencies, principal officers of tertiary institutions, education stakeholders, development partners, corporate executives, students and members of the media.
JAMB said its collaboration with Rite Foods reflects the shared commitment of both organisations to promoting merit, rewarding excellence and encouraging a culture of academic achievement among Nigerian students.
The board expressed confidence that the initiative would motivate more candidates to strive for excellence while reinforcing the importance of hard work and integrity in Nigeria’s education system.
