Bullying should be prohibited in our society

Bullying should be prohibited in our society

By Muhammad Tom Ibrahim

Bullying refers to the use of force, coercion, hurtful, teasing or threats to abuse, intimidate or aggressively dominate another person. Also, bullying affects millions of lives, thereby causing people to feel hopeless. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We need to challenge it in order to change it, by reaching out to people in our society.

However, whether it is in school, at home, in the community or online, let us reach out and show each other the support we need. We should endeavour to reach out to the people we trust or those who are being bullied, so as to counsel and comfort them.

Furthermore, it doesn’t stop with young people, as teachers and parents; influencers and politicians as well as everybody have responsibilities to help each other by reaching out to the people who have been bullied. Let us work together to be the change we want to see in our societies. We need to reflect on our own behaviours by setting good examples for our young ones and create peaceful communities that can accommodate everybody without any form of bullying.

Finally, it takes courage to bring a positive change in our societies. So in this anti- bullying week, let us come together and reach out to everybody, in order to stop bullying in schools, at home, online and everywhere.
