Bright Sun College excels at Special Maths Contest in Abuja

Students of Bright Sun College demonstrated exceptional mathematical skills, emerging as top performers at the recently concluded “Special Maths Contest” held in Abuja.

The outstanding students, Ikenna Enwere, Jameel Aluko, and Oghenetejiri Esemitodje showcased their abilities in the rigorous competition.

In the initial round, held in November 2024, they successfully solved 25 challenging math questions within two hours, securing their qualification for the second and final round. The concluding stage of the contest took place physically in Abuja from January 30 to February 4, 2025.

During the final round, participants were tasked with solving four complex mathematical problems within four hours.

Bright Sun College students delivered remarkable performances, with Ikenna Enwere securing a silver medal and ranking as the third overall Nigerian competitor. He was awarded a laptop for his outstanding achievement.

Oghenetejiri Esemitodje earned a bronze medal, while Jameel Aluko received a certificate of participation and an honorable mention for his efforts in the contest.

Esemitodje, an SS1 student in the science department, expressed joy at his achievement, acknowledging the difficulty of the competition.

“The questions were quite technical, but I have learned valuable lessons and hope to perform even better in future competitions,” he said.

He extended his gratitude to his tutor, Mr. Ekundayo, his parents, and the school for their unwavering support, describing the experience as a stepping stone in his academic journey.

“I sincerely appreciate my tutor, Mr. Ekundayo, as well as my parents for their brilliant and moral support,” he added.
