A new AI era of computing: Copilot+ PCs

By Joel Shaji

Hello! Let me tell you what Microsoft’s Copilot+ PCs can do. If you want speed, these PCs have a Neural Processing Unit or an NPU that can perform over 40 trillion operations per second, so Windows and Copilot+ features significantly don’t affect the CPU and GPU.

They even have up to 22 hours of battery life to work and play all day. If I wanted to do a comparison, they’re 58 per cent faster than the Apple MacBook Air 15 with the M3 processor. With Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite and Plus processors, these PCs pack a punch. They offer 16 – 32GB of RAM, and give you 256GB – 1TB of internal storage.

The NPU, Snapdragon X, the memory, and the storage work together, so AI on Windows is faster and more intelligent. You’re also getting the Windows 11 24H2 experience with new wallpapers, more settings, and more. All your apps are taking over the NPU, starting with the Microsoft 365, Edge, Xbox, and the inbox apps you can count on. Top apps like Google Chrome, WhatsApp, Zoom, Adobe Photoshop, Disney+, Spotify, and many more will run natively on Day One on your Copilot+ PCs. With the Windows Copilot Runtime, more than 40 AI models are woven into Windows, and with Prism, a new arm emulator on Windows 11; every app and feature runs great on your Copilot+ PCs.

Let’s see the features of these powerful PCs. Have you ever seen something interesting on your PC, but can’t remember where it was? With Recall, I can search or use Timeline to find it. The best part is that your history is never used by or sent to Microsoft. You’re in control of what you edit or what you keep.

For creators, embrace yourself with 3 AI features: Cocreator in Paint uses generative AI to make images come to life, all without sacrificing the original image. And two features are coming to the Photos app exclusive to Copilot+ PCs, like Image Creator, and Restyle Image.

If you’re in a foreign meeting, it can be hard to understand the language they are speaking. But Copilot+ PCs help you understand them with the new Live translation feature in Live Captions. Since it’s a Windows feature, it’s available on any video calling and entertainment app, translated locally on the NPU. It translates over 40 languages into English, and Microsoft will be adding more languages over time.

The Camera is getting even better with new Windows Studio Effects like Standard Blur, Animated effects, and more.

Finally, they updated Microsoft Copilot: your everyday AI companion; by reimagining what Copilot can do on Windows. It’s going to be easier than ever to call on Copilot by just a tap on your keyboard or at the center of your Windows taskbar. You can snap, resize, and maximise it to run it in full screen. You can even insert images to Copilot to learn more.

You can even see Copilot in Settings, Notifications, and File Explorer, where it’s going to provide helpful suggestions for you.
