Grace Schools, Gbagada, Lagos, has secured the British Council’s International School Award for the fourth consecutive time, extending its record of recognition for international education and global engagement.

The latest award covers a four-year cycle running from 2026 to 2029 and recognises the school’s continued international work and commitment to embedding global perspectives in education.
The International School Award is presented to schools that successfully demonstrate the impact of international activities and partnerships across their educational programmes.
Presenting the award, British Council Nigeria Deputy Country Director Chilufya Besa praised Grace Schools for maintaining its commitment to global educational standards.
The current award cycle is themed “Connected classrooms: Global perspectives in a digital age,” reflecting the changing nature of education in an increasingly interconnected world.
The theme places emphasis on preparing students to understand different cultures, work across borders and operate confidently in a digital environment.
For Grace Schools, the recognition is the latest in a series of achievements spanning more than a decade.
Executive Director of the school, Mrs Olatokunbo Edun, said the fourth consecutive award reflected the institution’s sustained commitment to international education, curriculum development, global partnerships and intercultural understanding.
She noted that the school’s participation in the programme helps students develop skills extending beyond academic performance.
Among those skills are communication, public speaking, teamwork, collaboration, creativity and global citizenship.
A colourful demonstration of the school’s approach came during the award ceremony when students presented a drama about the Chinese New Year festival.
The performance provided an example of how cultural learning can be incorporated into school activities and give students opportunities to engage with traditions beyond their immediate environment.
Grace Schools also said it has invested in modern teaching approaches and digital devices as part of efforts to make learning more relevant to students growing up in a technology-driven world.
The British Council’s International School Award is implemented in 16 countries and encourages schools to develop international partnerships, incorporate global issues into teaching and create opportunities for students to collaborate across cultures.
The fourth consecutive recognition places Grace Schools among institutions that have demonstrated sustained commitment to international engagement.
