When Israel Adekunle Adeniyi stepped forward as the Overall Best Graduating Student of the Nigerian Law School for the 2026 Call to Bar, the achievement represented more than an academic distinction.

It marked the culmination of years of educational support that began when he was still in secondary school.
Adeniyi was recently honoured by the Oyin Jolayemi Foundation and UTL Trust Management Services Limited, trustee to the foundation, after emerging as the overall best graduating student at the Nigerian Law School.
His academic record is equally remarkable.
Before reaching the Nigerian Law School, Adeniyi graduated from the University of Ilorin as the best graduating student in the Common Law programme with a CGPA of 4.83, reportedly the highest ever recorded in the faculty’s history.
His journey was supported by the Oyin Jolayemi Foundation, which he joined as a beneficiary while in Senior Secondary School 1.
According to Adeniyi, the foundation’s financial and moral support enabled him to finance both his university and law school education without significant financial difficulty.
The support provided a stable foundation for a student who would eventually rise to the highest academic position in his Nigerian Law School graduating class.
The foundation’s founder, Otunba Oyin Jolayemi, congratulated Adeniyi and encouraged him to maintain the standard that had brought him recognition.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive of UTL Trust Management Services, Mrs Olufunke Aiyepola, also celebrated the graduate and urged him to continue pursuing excellence.
Adeniyi’s story highlights the potential impact of sustained educational support.
Scholarships often focus on immediate financial assistance, but long-term support can provide students with the stability required to concentrate on academic development across several stages of education.
