Blooming Greens School Urges FG to Rescue Abducted Pupils and Teachers

The appeal was made during a press briefing held to unveil activities for the school’s 10th anniversary celebration, themed “Decade of Excellence: Shaping Futures with Purpose.”

Speaking at the event, the Head Teacher of Blooming Greens Primary School, Mr. Adegboyega Fadare, stressed that safeguarding lives and property remains one of the government’s primary responsibilities and urged authorities to intensify efforts toward rescuing those still in captivity.

According to Fadare, the continued abduction of schoolchildren and teachers has created fear among students, parents, and educators, making it difficult for effective teaching and learning to take place.

“Security of life and property is the sole responsibility of the government. We appeal to the authorities to do everything possible to secure the release of these children and their teachers. What is the essence of celebrating Children’s Day when some of our children are still being held captive?” he said.

He noted that insecurity has continued to affect the learning environment, as students cannot concentrate on their studies when they are uncertain about their safety.

“When learners are not comfortable or secure, education suffers. No matter the effort teachers put in, meaningful learning cannot take place in an atmosphere of fear. We are appealing to the government to act swiftly and bring these children and their teachers home safely,” Fadare added.

The school further urged the government to create a safe and conducive environment for education, emphasizing that schools should remain places of learning and development rather than targets of criminal activities.

Meanwhile, the anniversary briefing also highlighted the institution’s achievements over the past decade.

Principal of Blooming Greens High School, Mr. Femi Akintunde, recounted the school’s growth since its establishment on June 4, 2016, by former banker and treasury executive, Mrs. Susan Babatunde-Yamah.

He explained that the institution was founded on the principles of innovation, technology-driven learning, strong moral values, and a supportive educational environment.

Akintunde noted that the school has earned several academic recognitions over the years, including awards from APEN and AISEN, while also producing the recipient of the 2024 Nigerian Presidential Award for Best Private Primary School Teacher.

He added that Blooming Greens School has gained international recognition through its appearance on CNN’s Freedom Day Project and the African Voices: Africa Education Comic Series.

Speaking on the milestone, the Chief Executive Officer of the school, Mrs. Susan Babatunde-Yamah, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and leadership development.

“This anniversary is not only a celebration of our achievements over the last ten years but also a reaffirmation of our commitment to raising future leaders through quality education and strong values,” she said.

She revealed that the school’s five-year strategic plan includes expanding its technology-based learning model, upgrading facilities, and launching an educational technology arm aimed at extending its curriculum and teacher-training programmes beyond the institution.

Activities lined up for the anniversary celebration include prayer sessions, media engagements, charity visits to orphanages, children’s programmes, educational seminars, community outreach initiatives, and a thanksgiving service.

The school expressed hope that the celebration would not only commemorate a decade of impact but also strengthen its commitment to educational excellence and social development.
