FIFA made the announcement on Tuesday, confirming that the Afrobeats star will perform alongside globally renowned music group Major Lazer, led by American DJ and producer Diplo.

The concert is part of FIFA’s Countdown Concert series, a first-of-its-kind entertainment initiative designed to build excitement ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

In a statement, FIFA described the Los Angeles event as a celebration of music, football, and culture, bringing together fans from around the world as the countdown to the tournament continues.

“Los Angeles will play host to a high-energy celebration featuring Diplo’s Major Lazer and Davido, the first artists announced for what promises to be an unforgettable night of music, football and culture,” FIFA said.

The event will take place at the Crypto.com Arena, with organisers revealing that doors will open at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time, while the live show is expected to commence at 6:00 p.m.

According to FIFA, the Los Angeles concert will be connected to similar events taking place in Toronto, Canada, and Mexico City, Mexico, creating a synchronized celebration across the three host nations.

FIFA World Cup 2026 Chief Tournament Officer for the United States, Manolo Zubiria, said the concert series is aimed at showcasing the passion, unity, and cultural diversity that define the World Cup.

“The Countdown Concert series celebrates the passion, unity and cultural connections across three countries and around the world that define the FIFA World Cup 2026,” Zubiria said.

He added that Los Angeles, one of the world’s leading entertainment capitals, would provide the perfect setting for a global celebration just days before the tournament begins.

FIFA also announced that tickets for the event will go on sale on June 3, while fans around the world will be able to watch the concert live through FIFA’s digital platforms.

The governing body disclosed that the FIFA World Cup TikTok account will serve as the exclusive social media livestream partner for the event, allowing millions of football and music fans to follow the performances in real time.

Full concert footage and exclusive behind-the-scenes content will also be available after the event on FIFA’s video-on-demand platform, VuMe Live.

Davido’s participation marks another major international appearance for the Nigerian superstar, whose global influence continues to grow through his contributions to the Afrobeats movement and the international music scene.

The award-winning singer is expected to bring African music to a global audience as FIFA continues preparations for what is set to be the largest World Cup tournament in history.
