There is no doubt that the current economic situation in the country has affected the Nigerian child seriously. With the rising cost of commodities, children are now forced to stop making requests to their parents as they can no longer afford a lot.
Apart from the exchange rates, which have suddenly become unbearable, parents have also been talking to their children on the need to change schools and also move into more affordable apartments, which may not have adequate space for the children to use.
Some cannot afford light bills and as a result, children are left to feel the heat of their homes. The number of gifts bought for good performance and also shopping outings for clothes, games, shoes and others have also dropped in recent times.
In some instances, some parents cannot meet up with the school fees of their children, which is why a lot of children have been out of school for months. Some even struggle to put food on the table of their families. This is really disturbing and the government must do something to save the future of the coming generation. The country is becoming unbearable and we certainly cannot continue like this. The success of any society can be seen in how comfortable and happy the children are. We must get it right as a country.
