The rights and needs of the Nigerian Child

By Usman Suleiman AbdulRahman

Child rights are fundamental duties of a parent, which must be carried out. The basis for the development of any child is his situation of being catered for.

The society today has adopted values and preferences above children that leaves much to be desired.

The number of out of school children,  those displaced from violent areas and homeless children begging on the streets are just a few examples. The task of raising a child is like confronting future challenges today. If the children are well prepared for the challenges ahead, the future will be much better. There is a need for the Nigerian society to accord the right attention and priorities to the children so as to secure the future of the country.  We are the future, the hope and pride of this great country.
