School bullying: Causes and effects on mental health

Bullying is when someone hurts or scares another person on purpose. It can happen at school, online, on the street, in fact, anywhere.

Bullies use mean words, push others, hit others, and even leave people out. Bullying makes others feel sad, scared, or alone.  It is wrong and unfair. Everyone deserves to feel safe and respected. If you see someone being bullied, tell a teacher, parent, or a trusted adult. Be kind to others and include everyone.

Usually, bullying happens in school in which the other person is hurt, threatened or intimidated.  School Bullying is a crime, children who are victims of school bullying refuse to go to school. It is necessary for the school   authorities to pay attention to bullying in school.

Children who are victims of bullying appear unhappy or worried. They try to isolate from others and students are bullied for lots of reasons. Sometimes they are bullied because they are too clever or popular. It can be caused by differences in race, sexuality, religion, disabilities and abilities, weight, height, or anything that causes a difference between one children or another.

 Kids who are bullied are more likely to experience, depression, increased feelings of sadness, and loneliness, changes in sleep and eating patterns, and loss of interest in activities they used to enjoy. They may even arise as a response to low levels of self esteem to elevated levels of depression, anxiety, and anger.

We can stop bullying by standing up for what is right. When we choose kindness we help make the world a better and safer place for all.
