NECO Releases 2025 Results: 7 Out of 10 Candidates Pass

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2025 November/December SSCE for private candidates.

The NECO Registrar, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, announced this on Tuesday in Minna, Niger State.

How Many Students Took the Exam?

NECO said 96,979 candidates registered for the exam.
This included:

  • 51,823 males
  • 45,156 females

Out of them, 95,160 candidates actually sat for the examination.

The exams were written between November 26 and December 13, 2025 and the results were released 52 days after the last paper.

How Did Candidates Perform?

According to NECO, 71.6% of candidates passed with five credits and above, including English and Mathematics while 86.2% got five credits and above, even without English and Maths

For key subjects:

  • English Language About 78% got credit and above
  • Mathematics: Over 91% passed with credit and above

This means many candidates performed very well, especially in Mathematics.

Exam Malpractice Cases

NECO also shared information about exam cheating. It said 9,016 candidates were caught for different forms of malpractice.

This is higher than 2024, when 6,160 candidates were caught

NECO added that five supervisors may be banned for helping candidates cheat. Additionally, four exam centres were recommended for cancellation due to serious cheating

NECO concluded that it will continue to fight exam malpractice to protect honest students and keep exams fair for everyone.
