Literacy week commenced on the 28th of October 2024. Literacy week is usually a very eventful and exciting week at Blooming Heritage Secondary School.

We had different activities for all students. During this week, there was a competition between all the sports houses: red, yellow, green and blue. We had different activities like the grade 7 and 8 spelling bee, the oratory speaking competition, and the grade 9 and 10 quiz.

On Wednesday, October 30th, 2024, the grade 7 and 8 spelling bee took place. Each house had two representatives, one from grade 7 and one from grade 8. The event took place in the school’s hall, where every student sat house by house. At around 2:00pm, the event commenced, making every house stand by their toes. At the end of the event, green house won the highest score.

On Thursday, the event continued with the oratory skill competition, followed by the year 9 and 10 quiz competition. For the oratory speaking competition, they were previously given a list of topics to research and on the day of the event, they will pick a random topic by number each house representative speaks on a topic with specified time of five minutes. A house has a main speaker and an assistant speaker. At the end of the event, the yellow house won. To wrap up the awesome literacy week, we had the year 9 and 10 quiz. At the end of it, green house won; a very beautiful week indeed!
