Capital Science wins 2025 debate, spelling bee competitions

he Capital Science Academy Kado, Abuja, triumphed over five other schools in the FCT to clinch the trophies in both debate and spelling bee competitions.

In the spelling bee category, Capital Science Academy contingent, a pair of Janis Pedro and Chimamanda Nbanefo of JS1, spelt all twenty words without missing any to win the top prize among five other contesting schools.

In debate, the representatives of the school, a trio of Solomon George, Mishael Songonuga and Nana Aisha floored their opponents while proposing the motion:  “The Continuous Advancement in Technology is a Threat to Humanity Rather than a Blessing.”

Declaring the event open earlier, the Principal/CEO, Bunuyaminu Bello Yero welcomed all invited schools and assured them of a level-playing field.

He expressed excitement about the potential of the event to impact all participating students positively in public speaking and other academic skills.

The chief judge of the occasion and publisher of Global Teacher Magazine, Dr Olujinmi Odeniyi, who was assisted by Dr Terzungwe Kwagh-Aondo expressed joy for the opportunity given him to preside over the event. While appreciating the young talents, he tasked their teachers to continue the nurturing work they are doing on the kids.

In his vote of thanks, the Vice Principal Academics, Alawusa Muniru Adebisi, applauded all participating schools and their teachers for putting up a top-class performance and congratulated all prize winners for the day’s event. He also expressed appreciation to the English department and all staff and students of CSA for a job well done.

The schools that participated were Nigerian Tulip International School, Living Fountain International School, Doveland International School, Nigeria – Ghana International School and Redbridge International School, Gwarimpa.
