Gov. Mai Mala Buni of Yobe has rewarded three talented teenagers with a N30 million gift for emerging as overall best in the English language and debate competition at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals in London.
The champions, Nafisa Abdullahi, Ruqayya Fema, and Hadiza Kalli, are all students of Nigeria Tulip International College, Mamudo, in Yobe State. In addition to the cash prize, Buni also approved scholarships for the trio to pursue tertiary education.
Speaking in Damaturu on Thursday, the governor described the victory as an “incredible feat” that brought pride not only to Yobe but to Nigeria as a whole. “These are great feats that make us proud and justify the government’s investment in the education sector,” he said.
The governor noted that Yobe State spends N2.6 billion annually on scholarships for 890 students of the college, which was built and funded by the state but is managed by Turkish partners.
The TeenEagle Global Finals, held in August 2025, saw Abdullahi, Fema, and Kalli defeat 20,000 contestants from 69 countries, cementing their place as world-class champions and shining examples of Nigerian talent on the global stage.
