The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Timothy Anake, announced this on Friday while presenting the institution’s graduating statistics at the ceremony, which featured the award of first and higher degrees and recognition of outstanding students.

The university graduated 1,843 students, comprising 1,655 undergraduates and 188 postgraduate students.

A breakdown of the undergraduate results showed that 371 students obtained First-Class honours, while 926 graduated with Second-Class Upper degrees. Another 345 students earned Second-Class Lower degrees, while 13 graduated with Third-Class honours.

Miss Etta Queendolin of the Department of Computer Engineering, College of Engineering, emerged as the overall best graduating student, recording an impressive Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.99.

Anake attributed the academic performance to the determination of the students, the dedication of the university’s faculty and its commitment to academic excellence.

He reaffirmed the institution’s resolve to produce graduates capable of competing in the labour market, creating employment opportunities, establishing businesses, advancing research and contributing meaningfully to society.

The Chancellor of the university, Dr David Oyedepo, urged the graduates to become problem-solvers rather than wait for others to address societal challenges.

Oyedepo said the numerous problems confronting society presented opportunities for graduates to develop innovative solutions and make meaningful contributions in their chosen fields. He also advised them to discover their purpose and remain committed to it.

The Pro-Chancellor, Mrs Faith Oyedepo, congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to embrace continuous learning, develop relevant skills and prepare for emerging opportunities.

She urged them to create solutions to challenges facing humanity and use their achievements to make a positive impact on society, while advising them to uphold the truth and maintain integrity.

The convocation marked the completion of academic programmes for the 2025/2026 graduating class, celebrating the students’ achievements and recognising their potential to contribute to national and global development.
