Tomisin competed in the junior category, which was open to students in Years 10 and 11. Her entry in the Film & Art category was assessed by academics involved in the competition.
She was one of four winners in the junior category. The other winners were Miruna Irina, who won Politics; Prerna Sagaran, who won Philosophy; and Ajuni Arneja, who won Literature.
In the senior category, Anna Yeung won Politics, Adeline Udeh won Philosophy, Ollie O’Brien won Literature, and Yuanxi Brooke won Film & Art.
The Cambridge Language Collective, a student publication that aims to broaden perspectives beyond the Anglophone world, announced the winners on its social media platforms.
Tomisin’s mother, Dr. Funmi Adewara, shared the achievement on LinkedIn and said she was proud of her daughter’s success.
According to Adewara, Tomisin has developed interests in acting, film, art, writing, and storytelling.
“At 14, Tomisin gained a place at the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain, an institution known for developing young performers,” she said.
She added that the latest award brought together several of Tomisin’s creative interests.
The competition’s co-editors-in-chief, Lauren and Millie, said the standard of entries was “incredibly high” and congratulated all the participants.
They also encouraged contestants who did not win to keep writing and enter the competition again.
The Cambridge Language Collective said the winning entries would be published alongside other selected entries.
