Thonyx Immaculate Schools marks 10th anniversary with inter-house sports

Thonyx Immaculate Schools in Bariga, Lagos, has marked its 10th anniversary alongside its biennial inter-house sports competition in an event that brought together students, staff, parents and members of the community.

The celebration featured sporting activities, cultural displays and student presentations, showcasing a decade of growth and development within the school community.

Speaking at the event, the proprietor of the school, Aketayo Oladimeji, described the milestone as an important moment in the institution’s journey since its establishment on April 11, 2016.

He noted that the school started with 40 students and 10 staff members but has grown significantly over the years, now operating from three locations within the Bariga area of Lagos.

According to him, the institution has produced former students who are now excelling in various fields, including medicine, law and engineering, both in Nigeria and abroad.

Oladimeji explained that the anniversary celebration was combined with the inter-house sports competition because the sporting event is a biennial programme of the school, which coincidentally aligned with the 10th anniversary.

He added that the vision behind the school was driven by a desire to contribute to societal development through quality education and human capacity building, noting that parents in the community continue to appreciate its impact.

Some students who spoke at the event also shared their experiences, describing how the school has influenced their academic and personal development.

A commercial student, Solomon Precious, said the school has shaped him academically, morally and spiritually through dedicated teaching and mentorship. He said he aspires to become an accountant and encouraged fellow students to remain focused on their studies.

Another student from the Arts Department said the school had helped improve his confidence and communication skills, adding that consistency and self-expression remain key to success in creative fields.
