Students of Sheikh Abubakar Gummi Academy, Plot 177 RB Dikko Road, Zone A4, Asokoro, Abuja, on February 10, 2026, visited Trust Radio for an interactive session under the station’s weekly children’s programme, Yara Lokacin Mu Ne.

The visit formed part of the programme’s ongoing efforts to promote media literacy, civic awareness, and youth engagement. Rather than a routine excursion, the session provided the students with practical exposure to radio broadcasting and content production.

During a guided tour of the station, the students were taken through the newsroom, recording booths, editing suites, and live studio. The tour offered them firsthand insight into the processes behind news gathering, programme production, and live transmission.

The students also participated in the live recording of Yara Lokacin Mu Ne, where they shared perspectives on education, leadership, and national development. The interactive session included poetry recitations and a question-and-answer segment focused on civic responsibility.

A highlight of the programme was the emergence of Khadija Ahmad Karaye, a 12-year-old JSS 2 student, as the winner of the competition segment. Her performance drew commendation from the production team.

Speaking during a roundtable discussion, the programme’s producer, Maryam Farouk, emphasised the importance of giving young people platforms to express themselves.

“Children are not only the leaders of tomorrow; they are active citizens today. Providing them with opportunities like this helps build confidence, responsibility, and critical thinking,” she said.

The accompanying teacher expressed appreciation to Trust Radio for the opportunity, describing the experience as impactful and educational.

The visit concluded with the students returning to school equipped with new knowledge about broadcasting and a renewed sense of civic awareness.
