Where do flies go at night?

Flies are very active during the day, but at night they seem to disappear. In reality, flies do not vanish; they simply change their behaviour.

Flies depend on light to move and find food. When it becomes dark, they cannot see well, so they stop flying around. Instead, they look for safe places to rest. These places may include walls, ceilings, corners of rooms, behind curtains, under tables, or on plants and trees outdoors.

Flies are cold-blooded insects, which means their body temperature depends on their surroundings. At night, when the temperature drops, their bodies become less active. This makes them slow and encourages them to remain still in one place.

Resting at night is important for their survival. It helps them save energy, avoid predators, and stay safe until morning. When the sun rises and the environment becomes warm and bright again, flies become active and return to searching for food.
