Master the Basics a) – Ensure you understand fundamental topics like BODMAS, fractions, percentages, algebra, and trigonometry. These are the foundation of most questions.
Master the Recurring Topics: These are topics that are frequently set by the examiners. These include graphs of quadratic equations / trigonometrically graphs, Bearings & Distances / Latitude & Longitude, Statistics, Plane/ Circle Geometry, Sequences & Series, Mensuration, Change of Subjects, etc.
Be sincere in practising Past Questions – Solve past WAEC, NECO, and JAMB mathematics questions to familiarize yourself with question patterns and the commonly tested areas.
Understand the Marking Scheme – Knowing how marks are awarded will help you present your answers correctly and avoid unnecessary mistakes.
Time Management – Practice solving questions under exam conditions to improve speed and accuracy. Avoid spending too much time on a single question.
Memorize Important Formulas – Have a list of key formulas for topics like geometry, probability, statistics, and calculus. Constant revision will help you recall them easily.
Show All Workings Clearly – WAEC and NECO award marks for correct steps, even if the final answer is wrong. Ensure your workings are neat and logical.
Avoid Calculator Dependency – While calculators are allowed, train yourself to solve basic calculations manually to improve mental speed and accuracy.
Study with a Plan – Create a study schedule that covers all topics, focusing more on weaker areas while reinforcing strengths.
Join Study Groups or Get a Tutor – Discussing difficult topics with peers or a tutor can help clarify concepts and improve your understanding.
Stay Confident and Positive – Believe in yourself, stay calm during the exam, and read questions carefully before attempting them, pay attention to details . Avoid panic, as it leads to mistakes.
