The ills of wrongful waste disposal

By Muhsinah Iliyasu

One of the major problems facing our society today is indiscriminate waste disposal. The careless manner in which people throw refuse around without considering its harmful effects is deeply worrying. Environmental pollution poses serious risks to human health. From toxic damage to the soil to the destruction of aquatic life, there is hardly any aspect of pollution that does not have consequences.

Beyond health concerns, pollution also affects agriculture, food security, and overall quality of life. There is an urgent need for proper implementation and enforcement of environmental laws that prohibit improper waste disposal. When waste is managed correctly, soil fertility can improve, leading to better food production and a healthier ecosystem.

We must all take responsibility and work together to protect and preserve our environment for present and future generations.
