Sweet Haven School after winning national ICT competition

The students of Sweet Haven School, Kano won the recently concluded National ICT Competition in Abuja.

The school management said the win was achieved due to their commitment to fostering innovation, which was exemplified by their students’ participation and success in the National Girls in ICT competition.

The management said the first entry by Sweet Haven, a project titled ‘CommuniWatch’ marked an impressive debut in the competition.

“Designed as a community policing app, ‘CommuniWatch’ allows users to report local incidents in real-time, creating a safer environment by connecting residents and authorities. This initiative was met with high praise and earned Sweet Haven the title of Kano State winners, showcasing the students’ ability to apply their skills to create meaningful community impact.”

The management said the momentum from this initial victory carried Sweet Haven forward to the second National Girls in ICT competition, where their students achieved even greater heights.

“Competing first at the state level, then advancing to the Northwest region, and finally emerging victorious in the national finals held in Abuja, the students’ groundbreaking project, ‘EcoKano, captured the attention of audiences across Nigeria,” said the management.

“Our partnership through Steamledge Tap Acceleration Program and Steamledge Community Girls in STEAM initiative has given young girls the chance to explore and excel in tech. This win is a testament to their hard work, passion, and the power of quality STEAM education.”

The school management further said in an era where digital skills and innovation drive societal progress, the partnership between Sweet Haven High School and Steamledge Limited stands as a beacon of effective collaboration in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education.

“Since its inception in 2017, this alliance has provided students from primary through secondary school with the skills and confidence to tackle real-world challenges through technology. By integrating hands-on STEAM education as a core subject within the school curriculum, Sweet Haven and Steamledge are equipping young minds with the tools to think creatively, act decisively, and make a tangible difference in their communities.”
