NELFUND tasks institutions to upload student data ahead of loan portal launch

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has called on all accredited tertiary institutions across the country to urgently update and upload student records ahead of the opening of its loan application portal for the 2025/2026 academic session.

In a statement issued on Thursday, NELFUND said the exercise is crucial to ensuring a smooth verification and loan application process once the portal goes live.

Institutions are expected to upload accurate data for both returning and newly admitted students using admission numbers or other unique identifiers.

“Only students whose details have been duly uploaded and verified through their respective institutions will be eligible to apply for and benefit from the loan scheme,” the Fund stated.

Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND, highlighted the importance of institutional collaboration, describing it as “key to ensuring that no eligible student is left behind.”

She added that institutions should designate appropriate officers to oversee the upload process in line with technical guidelines provided by the Fund.

NELFUND’s student loan scheme is designed to expand access to higher education for eligible Nigerian students, and the verification portal is a critical step in that process.

For technical support, institutions are advised to contact NELFUND via its official email or through its social media platforms

The portal is expected to open in the coming weeks, and institutions are urged to act swiftly to avoid delays that could affect student access to funding.
