A student of Government Day Secondary School, Mairi, Jere Local Government Area of Borno State, Zainab Kladau Isa, 17, has emerged the overall best student in the North-East Zonal All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) Essay Writing Competition.
She successfully scaled through several challenges bedevilling the state, including insurgency, to beat other students in the northeastern region of the country.
Teen Zainab secured her qualification for the Jalingo competition by, first, emerging best at both her school and the Borno State competitions held earlier.
She was billed to represent the North-East at the ANCOPSS National Essay Writing Competition in Abuja in August 2020 but for the coronavirus pandemic lockdown.
“At the beginning, that was when I was preparing for the zonal competition, I thought I would not be able to make it, but I always dismissed that fear with my determination,” Zainab said.
“So when I eventually made it to the first position in Jalingo, I was very happy, and I came to believe that with hard work and determination, every student can excel,” she said.
