A visually impaired student of Government Secondary School, Kwali, Kawedo Kingsley has emerged the winner of the 2025 FCT Essay Competition, for secondary school students organised by Sterling Inclusive Education and Development Initiative (SIEDI).
The competition with the theme “How AI can Transform Education in Nigeria” was organisded fo r stiudents in the FCT.
A Disability & Inclusive Education Specialist, Patience Agbamu who announced this in her Facebook handle said the competition did not only celebrate exceptional writings but also reinforced their inclusive approach.
She said Kingsley’s victory clearly shows that excellence knows no limitations, adding that as part of his award, Kingsley’s submission was featured on the Qualitative Magazine.
“As the project lead, I had the privilege of guiding an incredible team through every stage of this initiative—from initial planning and stakeholder engagement to execution and final evaluation.
Our collective efforts have culminated in an event that not only showcased brilliant young talents but also sparked meaningful conversations on issues that matter. We received amazing submissions from students across the Federal Capital Territory, demonstrating the power of youth voices and creative thinking,” she said.
“Our success was made possible by the dedication of a diverse team of professionals, educators, and community partners, home and abroad, who worked tirelessly to bring this competition to life. The quality of essays submitted was truly inspiring, reflecting insightful perspectives that are sure to contribute to future academic and societal discussions.”
While extending her gratitude to everyone involved, their team members, judges, partners, donors and participants, she said, “Your passion and commitment were the driving force behind this achievement.”
