By Zainab Abdulkabir Gumi
Behind closed doors view a feeble bird
Singing songs of her unheated emotions, can you hear?
In the deep recesses of her lonesome world
Dreaming flowers which never seem to blossom, it hurts!
Crying out to the walls, crying out for aid
But all she gets back is silent echoes, screams if no aid.
This is me lost in my dilemma, in the four cornered wall of this
prison called home,
perhaps a dilemma
But home was once referred to as peace, joy and happiness but then, it
has become a beast
The only thing I am left to embrace is the silence and unidentified
shadow enveloping my heart, a disgrace not to be heard.
All I want is to be free like other birds of my kind
All I want is to spread these eager wings of mine, who are curious to
explore the kaleidoscope of life
All my heart yearns for is that escape route called freedom
See, freedom should be my domains
But since I cannot challenge the arrangement of life, I try to bury
that unknown in my lines of poetry
Till when life decides to call upon me.
