The Math Week at The Penielville School Abuja commenced on 4th of November, 2024 and the pupils all had so many activities, which started as soon as the pupils came to school in the morning.
The first activity was the Bingo game, where the pupils picked up mental math questions at the gate and when you got your answer correctly, you had to shout Bingo. The aim of the game was to develop our mental maths skills and help us think very fast.
After that, the pupils had a math game on the assembly ground, where the pupils played a game of adding numbers, it was a very exciting experience. The pupils also learnt a math pledge, which says “I promise to embrace the challenges of mathematics, to explore its wonders and to apply its principles in my daily life.”
The following day, the pupils learnt about measurement. Each class took turns in measuring and recording their heights and weights. It was stated that the pupil`s heights and weights will be checked and recorded next year to know how much the pupils have grown. We were all excited because we got to know how much we weighed and our heights.
Next, we had the math treasure hunt. It was an exciting adventure. The pupils were all grouped and each group had to pick a question and they had to hunt for the answers. The pupils were all excited and they had so much fun solving math problems.
Finally, we had the grand finale, which was the math quiz competition. The pupils had so much fun learning about math during the math week.
