NTIC boys marks infectious disease week

By David Mark Obe
The NTIC Kano boys section just recently held an awareness programme titled: Infectious Disease and Prevention Week.

The aim of the event was to enlighten the students on infectious diseases and various microorganisms that cause them. They also taught students how to protect themselves from diseases. I personally was enlightened on many things about infectious diseases. Here are some of the infectious diseases: Chickenpox, COVID-19, Measles, and many more.

Their symptoms are as follows: Fever, Chills, Congestion, Cough, Fatigue, Muscle ache, and gastrointestinal symptoms.

The main microorganisms that cause infectious diseases are viruses, fungi, parasites, bacteria, and prions. We were taught that medicines are not made to instantly kill diseases but to boost the immune system to fight the diseases.

Therefore, the only sure way to prevent diseases is by maintaining a healthy and balanced diet, very rich in vitamins and minerals.
