The brain’s biggest secret

The brain’s biggest secret

Hey, you!

Yes, you… Can you keep a secret?

Keep your voice down… To know the secret, this must remain a secret, read on.

Have you ever laid back in a chair, gazing up at the ceiling of your home, quietly admiring the work of the architect who designed it? Or perhaps you’ve looked up at the sky when you’re outside, taking in the ever-changing art of the clouds?

We humans have incredibly powerful minds and an amazing ability to visualise the world around us. And guess what? We experience all this through a God-given part of our body, known by its stage name, THE EYE.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, your eyes are a key sensory organ, feeding information to your brain about the outside world. The brain and the eyes share a special relationship — they’re like best friends. The brain doesn’t have the ability to see on its own; it relies on the eyes to bring in the visual information. The eyes handle the “physical” side of seeing, sending what they capture to the brain for processing.

Now, while we’re still in awe of how amazing our eyes are, there are some important “rules” we need to follow to keep our eyes in top shape. First, you should know that your eyes are very protective — they’re like little guardians, always on the lookout. They don’t take kindly to harmful “foreigners.” These can be things like dust particles, sharp objects (think pencil tips, pins, needles), and other irritants. That’s why your eyes are so sensitive and quick to react to things that might harm them.

Another important thing to know is that your eyes play a big role in helping you release your tears. When something moves you emotionally — whether it’s joy or sadness — your eyes help you express it. Tears are not only a natural response but also important for your emotional and mental health.

Fun fact! Did you know that tears are salty? So, next time you’re helping your mom cook for a big family dinner, you might just have a secret ingredient ready to go!

With all this in mind, I hope you now have a greater appreciation for your eyes and the incredible job they do. They’re more than just organs for seeing, they’re truly the brain’s best friend, constantly updating it on the world around you.

Take care of your eyes, and remember this secret is just between us, don’t tell anyone!
