Laughing Gas is a nitrous oxide N2O (Dinitrogen Oxide). It is a colourless gas with a sweet smell. It acts as an anaesthetic type of agent and is mainly used by dentists and surgeons to ease the pain of the patient about to undergo tooth removal or surgery.
It can also be used as a propellant in cream cans, in racing cars as an oxidizing agent, and so on. On inhaling it, the individual’s brain gets relaxed enough and he or she feels woozy as though he or she has taken alcohol and in such a situation, behaves like a drunk.
A few people also feel sleepy after inhaling the gas. However, if inhaled in excess proportion, it can lead to loss of consciousness which may eventually lead to death.
